FAQ's

Is there a refund policy?

Yes, we will refund the entire amount of the tour if it is cancelled outside of 24 hours before the tour departure time.  To cancel please email atasteofvictoria@gmail.com or text message (250) 893-9815.

What happens if it rains?

The tour will still take place if it rains; please bring umbrellas and appropriate clothing.  There will not be long stretches of the tour where we will be outside between tastings.

How much will we be eating?

The tour will have between 6-8 tastings.  They are sample sizes of the fare at each establishment, so they are not meant to be entire meals.  However, you should feel like you had something to eat by the end of the tour.

What if we have dietary restrictions?

If you have dietary restrictions please inform us (atasteofvictoria@gmail.com) of this prior to the tour so we can work with our partners to best serve you.  Occasionally, alcoholic beverages are served, but can be substituted for non-alcoholic beverages.  Most of the tour stops have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.

Can we bring our pets?

Due to health restrictions we are limited to service animals with official licensing only.

How much walking is there on the tour?

The tour covers roughly 2.5 km or 1.5 miles, which totals about 30 minutes of walking at a leisurely pace.

Where should we park?

Parking can sometimes be tricky in downtown Victoria.  We suggest that you use the city parkades at either Johnson St. or Bastion Square.  The first hour is free in these locations and then $2 for every hour afterwards.  They are also central to our tour, so it would be a short walk to our start location at the Victoria Public Market and our finish location at the Inner Harbour.  There is also a free underground lot behind the Victoria Public Market that our guests can use, but it has limited capacity.

How far is the tour start location from the cruise ship terminal?

The start location, at the Victoria Public Market, is approximately a 35-40 min walk or 10 min taxi ride from the cruise ship terminal at Ogden Point.  Our finish location, at the Inner Harbour, is about a 25-30 min walk or 5 min taxi ride back to the terminal.

Do you operate evening tours for late arriving cruise ship passengers?

Starting in May of 2019 our sister company Spirit of Victoria Food Tours will begin doing gourmet guided tours in the evenings!  Check them out here.

Where does the tour finish?

The tour finishes at the the Victoria Information Centre in the Inner Harbour across from the Empress Hotel.  This is approximately a 10-12 minute walk back to the start location.

Is the tour handicap and stroller accessible?

Yes!  The entire tour is handicap and stroller accessible.

Are tips included in the price of the tour?

No, but they are certainly appreciated by the guide if you enjoyed the tour.

Can we shop on the tour?

Yes!  Our partners were chosen for a reason - they are awesome!  Please feel free to buy something for later or get more of what we just tried.  Furthermore, many of our vendors have great website and will ship internationally.

Which languages are the tours offered in?

Tours are offered in English and French (please contact atasteofvictoria@gmail.com if you require a French tour)

Can I book a private tour or party?

Yes!  Please email atasteofvictoria@gmail.com to set this up.

Can I book the tour as a corporate event?

Yes!  These are always a lot of fun.  Please call Andy at (250) 893-9815 to set this up.
